GIS Analysis & Map Design

The Maps/Analysis displayed below were produced for white papers, presentations, and reports for projects while an Analyst and Marketing Coordinator for Iteris, Inc. For these maps I applied many design principles including: legibility, visual contrast, figure-ground organization, hierarchical organization, and balance.

A successful map is the result of understanding the information and transforming raw data into an engaging infographic. The advancement of the “internet of things,” sensors, and consumer devices have amounted to a plethora of geospatial data, and geospatial tools have advanced considerably in response. My process first begins using the ESRI GIS software to manage the data and create the base map. I then manipulate the vector graphics with Adobe Illustrator to produce a map with enhanced geographic features.
